A Belly Dance Lesson for your Hen Night - Make your Hen Night go with a Wiggle

Belly dancing is ideal for hen nights or hen weekends because it is traditionally an activity for women.  In Arabic societies it is passed down from mother to daughter and is performed by women for women at women-only parties.  That's not to say that men do not perform belly dance, or their own form of it, but it is a form of dance ideally suited to the female form.

Although in Western Cultures it is often thought as a form of erotic dance designed to seduce men, enhanced by the wearing of extremely skimpy costumes, particularly prevalent in Turkey, the home of belly dance is Egypt, where it is rare to see dancers wearing tremendously revealing costumes.  Even in cabaret, dancers are expected to wear mesh bodies over their midriffs when they dance in Egypt.  Egyptian dance is flirtatious and coquettish, but never all-out sexual in style.

In this sense belly dancing caters for everyone at a hen night.  Younger women with nice figures may choose to be sparsely clad and show off their bodies.  Older women or those with less body confidence are not regarded as inferior, just different - they may well choose to cover up their bellies, or upper arms, and legs - and that is just fine too.  Moving the hips and torso enhances the sensuality of the female body, but an Egyptian dance class is never embarrassing.  Thus, women of all ages, shapes and sizes can instantly join in together and have fun.

If used for a hen night, belly dancing is best done at the start of the evening, before very much alcohol has been consumed, and whilst the participants have the highest energy levels and concentration.  The whole hen night evening could be Egyptian in theme, with Middle Eastern food and music throughout the night.  The belly dancing could be followed by a massage and pampering session, which would also be in keeping with this celebration of the feminine and sensual in all women.
